I started my family, with my wife Jessica, in a westside neighborhood of Cleveland. We loved our community and we loved the Catholic school our daughters attended. But we wanted more for our girls - superior extracurricular opportunities, AP courses, and the best of IEP management. We searched throughout Northeast Ohio and found Mentor to be the best option for our family. Mentor has an aging population, and it's imperative that the city is attractive for younger families.
I witness the strength of the school district constantly - I also recognize there is room for improvement. Current technology means I am endlessly receiving notification on my daughters' grades and the status of their assignments - for which I am so grateful. I know teachers work very hard - and I know the name of every one of their teachers. Being an involved parent is something I do inherently, but which I also enjoy and am proud of.
Professionally, I have the privilege of preparing entry level employees for their next steps. I am acutely aware of the qualities that businesses are seeking in both new hires and individuals to promote. I also understand that there are a myriad of options for careers. Mentor Public Schools have amazing career readiness programming at all grade levels, including exceptional CTE programming. I am committed to supporting and advancing these programs.
I am proud to be a product of Public Schools. My wife is a proud proud product of Catholic Schools. As a family who enrolled, and proudly, our daughter in Catholic Schools, we ultimately wanted the resources and opportunities that Mentor Schools provided.
We chose Mentor based on the strength of the Public Schools. In order for Mentor to continue to attract new families, and to encourage existing residents to stay, we need to focus on our schools. A strong public school system in the community improves resale value and increases the equity in our homes while serving as a source of civic pride.
I have been employed in a corporate environment for over 20 years and in a leadership position for over a decade. My many teams have been comprised of individuals with diverse outlooks, perspectives, and beliefs. When faced with projects I meet them head on by cultivating relationships with stakeholders, gathering information, collaborating, reaching an agreement, and then following through to ensure accountability.
